Medication Nil Dispensed and Student Refused

The Medications module has received some new features as of January 2022, all designed to improve record-keeping and enhance knowledge sharing. This update continues to strengthen the most popular and important extension module within Reach.

In this update, we have improved the data captured during the administering process. As all actions within the dispensary produce reportable data and medical pastoral reports, using these new settings do not alter the data records, only enhances the information captured. Quick data for medical pastoral reports can also be viewed in the student sidebar, history tab, once an action is complete.

 

A new field called "Was the medication dispensed successfully?" has been added to the administer pop-up window with three options to better explain the outcome of the process, these include;

  1. Medication was dispensed successfully

    • This is the default state of the field, with this setting the system proceeds as normal

  2. No medication was dispensed to the patient

    • Medication that has not been administered (ie: zero administered), this setting may be used in the instant of the student's health not aligning with the requirements of the prescription at that scheduled time

  3. Patient refused medication 

    • In the event that a student refuses to take the scheduled medication, this setting will reflect that occurrence in the historic data

Setting two and three require that the dosage quantity be set to zero, then select the required status, this can be accompanied with an appropriate note to further explain the situation.

When a PMO medication is processed, it will move down to the administered table at the bottom of the dispensary dashboard, a blue P icon will appear to reflect the line item is a PMO medication, also, if the medication was not administered a red exclamation icon will also appear.

NOTE: Only staff who have the med_administer setting switched on in infinity permissions and in the accessibility tab of their personal profile will be able to administer medications in the dispensary.
